Join Providence-based photographer Jonathan Pitts-Wiley for an online webinar on Street Photography.
Jonathan approaches street photography as a documentary and portrait photographer and will lean into his experiences to help attendees define (or redefine) how they approach their own work. This presentation will cover a diverse range of topics, from conceptual understandings of the genre, influential street photographers, technical approaches to the craft, and the ethics of street photography.

Jonathan has a very unique approach to photographing subjects, influenced by a variety of genres of art, including his background in theater. Join us for a presentation that will get you thinking about how to approach your subjects!

About Jonathan

Jonathan Pitts-Wiley is a Rhode Island–based photographer whose work explores identity, presence, and community through an eye for character, gesture, rhythm, and narrative. Rooted in trust and storytelling, his clients include Brown University, the City of Providence, Trinity Repertory Company, and the Barr Foundation. A lifelong theater artist and co-founder of The Vanta Guild—a collective of Black photographers—he also collaborated on Witness, a project honoring his grandmother while exploring the Great Migration. His photography has been showcased in prominent exhibitions such as All the Worlds and Who We Are Now, earning him election as an Artist Member of Art League RI in 2024. Through his portraits and documentary work, Pitts-Wiley creates images that preserve our shared humanity and invite viewers to look more closely.
